The Award
As part of the National Security Language Initiative (NSLI), the Department of State Critical Language Scholarships will provide funding for U.S. citizen undergraduate, master's and Ph.D. students to participate in beginning, intermediate and advanced level summer language programs at American Overseas Research Centers and affiliated partners. Gary received the award twice, one to study Russian in St. Petersburg, Russia, and another to study Russian ins Samara, Russia.
At Baylor
During his time at Baylor, Gary served as the Freshman Class President, Sophomore Class President, and Permanent Class President. He was the student representative for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) Quality Enhancement Plan. Gary was also an inaugural student trustee of Brooks Residential College.
