Individualized Curriculum
The academic centerpiece of the University Scholars Program is the opportunity for students to craft a unique, individualized curriculum. UNSC students work closely with a faculty director to create a course of study tailored to the student’s particular academic and professional goals while retaining the full Liberal Arts experience.
As a program committed to Liberal Arts education, University Scholars naturally promotes deep interdisciplinary engagement. The individualized curriculum allows students to pursue work in multiple fields across the arts and sciences for an educational experience that is both versatile and unique. This study includes the selection of one or more areas of intellectual concentration, the Exit Interview, in which students create an independent reading list, and the thesis project, in which students conduct research under the direction of a faculty mentor.
University Scholars also encourages students to pursue membership in Phi Beta Kappa, the nation’s oldest and most prestigious academic honor society.
