Madison Pyles
UNSC Student Mentor
Madison is a junior University Scholar from Hollywood, MD concentrating in Biology, Medical Humanities, and Chemistry. After Baylor, she plans to attend medical school. On campus, Madison is involved in Active Minds (VP), American Medical Women’s Association (Fundraising Chair), and BU Mind-Body Medicine Laboratory. She will also be a Lab Learning Assistant for BIO 1105/1106.
Madison’s favorite reading list book was Antigone by Sophocles. Her thesis topic is on how mental health interventions (specifically in middle and high schools) can affect the suicide rates for these populations. She’s worked with faculty mentors Dr. Walter “Sparky” Matthews (Prehealth) and Dr. Kimberly Black (Student Life).
To new students, Madison says: “In my spare time, I am a Crisis Counselor for the Crisis Text Line. I also volunteer at local clinics/hospitals including Ascension Providence and Mission Waco. I’m happy to discuss any of these opportunities and how to get involved!”
