Laila is a junior university scholar from Houston, TX concentrating in Anthropology and Medical Humanities. After Baylor, she plans to attend medical school. On campus, Laila is involved in Supplemental Instruction, American Medical Women's Association, Poetry Club, Medical Ethics Discussion Society, and the Human Evolutionary Biology and Health Lab
Laila’s favorite reading list book was Emma by Jane Austen. Her thesis is on attitudes towards smoking in the Druze city of Swaida. She’s worked with faculty mentors Dr. Samuel Urlacher (Anthropology) and Dr. Jason Whitt (Honors College). Her advice to incoming students is to “Make sure to start practicing time management EARLY!”
