Emily Helm
UNSC Student Mentor
Emily is a senior University Scholar from Albuquerque, NM concentrating in Biology, Medical Humanities, and History. After Baylor, she plans to attend graduate school and earn a Master’s in genetic counseling. On campus, Emily is involved in MEDS and the Genetic Counseling Organization.
Emily’s favorite reading list book was Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston. She is writing her honors thesis on the ethical and psychosocial implications of testing pediatric patients for adult-onset genetic conditions.
Emily would love to meet and chat with any UNSC student and can answer questions about living in the HRC, campus involvement, and the UNSC program. To new students, she says: “I love the flexibility and diversity that this program offers me and I’m excited to help others experience it as well!”
